Antenatal/ Maternity Care Appointments We do not provide maternity services at the surgery.

If you are an expectant mother, you will need to self-refer for local maternity services:

Armed Forces & Veterans  We are a Veteran Friendly accredited GP Practice.

We have a dedicated GP that can assist with any medical or non-medical issues for patients who are currently serving or are veterans.

Blood Tests We encourage patients, who are able, to have their bloods done at West Herts Hospitals (Hemel, Watford & St Albans). You will need to book an appointment through their booking system: https://www.swiftqueue.co.uk/search.php

Please make sure you go to either Hemel, Watford or St Albans Hospital, so that we receive the results back.

Make sure you have a printed copy of your blood test form. This can either be emailed to you, or you can collect it from the surgery

We offer appointments at the surgery for our vulnerable patients or as part of long-term condition annual reviews.

Blood tests will only be completed if requested by a GP, Nurse, Consultant or other healthcare professional. If you feel you need bloods, please complete an Online Consultation.

Blood Pressure Checks We have a blood pressure machine located in the waiting room of both surgeries (Kings Langley & Longmeadow).

We do ask some patients to provide a week of readings. They can then be either emailed in or dropped off at reception for review.

Blood pressure machines can also be loaned out if required.

We also provide a 24hour blood pressure service. This will be requested by the GP if necessary. It requires you to wear a blood pressure machine for 24 hours to gain readings throughout the day.

B12 Injections Appointments for these injections are only offered based on diagnosis of deficiency and Doctor’s prescription.

We have a carer champion who can help with signposting/carer information.

If you wish to speak to them, please call the surgery to book a call.

The surgery also provides annual carer health checks.

Cancer Care Nurse Our dedicated cancer care Nurse provides ongoing support to those who have received a cancer diagnosis.
Certificates & Prescription Forms  MAT B1 (Contact your midwife team).

FW8 Maternity prescription exemption (Please visit the surgery to complete the form).

FP92A Prescription Charge exemption for specified conditions (Please visit the surgery to complete a form).

Cervical Screening If you are due a smear test you will receive a letter from the Cervical Screening National team.

Call reception to book your routine appointment with a Nurse.

Please only book an appointment when you have a received this letter. The lab will not process samples that aren’t due.

Consent to access medical records  Please use the link to access the consent form, if you wish for someone to have access or speak on your behalf during appointments.

Consent for Another to Access Medical Records 

Contraception including coils and implants We offer appointments for contraceptive implants, coils, injections and the pill.

You will need to complete an Online Consultation for the following:

  • Any first-time contraception requests
  • Any change of contraceptive requests

You should provide your height, weight and a current blood pressure reading if you have a telephone call appointment.

Delta Primary Care Network Hub (PCN Hub) Delta PCN Hub Information Poster

We currently have a Respiratory Hub based at Bennetts End Surgery. You will be booked in with the Respiratory Nurse, who will do diagnostic testing (Spirometry) for COPD and Asthma.

Dressings & Wound Management We advise patients to self-care where possible.

If you have been discharged from hospital and need follow up wound care at the surgery, please call us for an appointment as soon as possible as on the day appointments are in high demand.

We will direct you to the local Urgent Treatment Centre for dressings if:

  • They are due at the weekend
  • There is no availability to accommodate your appointment at the surgery.
Doppler (Ankle brachial pressure indices (ABPIs) A diagnostic test, usually requested by the doctor, that measures blood flow through arteries and veins using sound waves.

 

Ear Wax Removal Our Nurses ear wax removal when a clinician deems them necessary.

Patients can be booked in for an ear check if one is needed before an audiology appointment.

ECG Our Nurses and Healthcare Assistants perform ECGs when requested by the GP. It is a quick test that records the electrical activity of your heart.

Health Reviews Patients will be contacted via phone call or text around their birthday if they are due a long-term condition annual review.

Long term conditions include:

  • Asthma
  • COPD
  • Diabetes
  • Hypertension
  • Atrial Fibrillation
  • Chronic Kidney Disease and others

If your symptoms change or you have any concerns, please complete an Online Consultation.

Immunisations For any childhood immunisations, please call us to book an appointment. Make sure you have received the invitation letter from the Child Health team.

You can call to book any vaccinations your child may have missed, as long as they are still eligible.

Adults – Pneumonia & Shingles vaccinations are offered if you are eligible.

Pregnant women – Will be advised to attend for the whooping cough vaccination at the appropriate time (usually around 20 Weeks).

Please note we do not provide Occupational Health vaccinations or advice. This is the responsibility of your employer.

NHS: Immunisations

Joint Injections Steroid joint injections can be given at the surgery by one of our doctors when clinically diagnosed and advised by one of our clinicians. Please complete an Online Consultation.
Learning Disabilities For those of our patients who have a learning disability, we offer yearly annual health checks.

This is one of the best times to bring up any concerns or issues.

We do encourage speaking to the GP throughout the year as well, if any medical issues arise. If you wish to have an appointment, please complete an Online Consultation or call the surgery. Reception will fill out a form for you.

Medication Reviews For some medications you will have a yearly medication review. For those that also need a long-term condition review these will be done at the same time.

Please complete an Online Consultation if:

  • You experience any side effects
  • Any changes to your health condition
Minor Surgery  We have 3 GPs trained to do minor surgical procedures in a dedicated clinic at the surgery.

If you have a symptomatic skin lesion or lump, please complete an Online Consultation. This will then be reviewed. If required, you will be asked to attend the surgery for further assessment.

Non- NHS Services (insurance forms etc.) Our GPs can complete non-NHS work for a stated fee. Please see link below. Any queries, please contact the surgery and speak to our admin team.

Please note our GPs do not do Power of Attorney witness signatures. You can ask someone who has known you well for at least two years, such
as a friend or colleague.

Fees for Non-NHS Service Requests

Referrals  We refer patients whenever clinically necessary. If you want to request a specific referral please fill an Online Consultation. You might need to have a consultation with a doctor depending on your request.
Ring Pessary Insertion & Removal Please complete an Online Consultation to request an appointment if you require a pessary ring removal/insertion.
Travel Vaccinations
Ensure you start the process 6 to 8 weeks before you travel as you may not be able to book appointments with us in time for your travels.

Please call the surgery to book an appointment with the Nurse.

Please note we only provide the following on the NHS: Tetanus, Polio, Typhoid and Hepatitis A.
